Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs have finally confirmed the departure of Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana after months of protracted negotiations.
Chiefs had indicated their intention that Bimenyimana had fallen out of favour and was not in the club's plans for this season (2023/24) with the evidence of that being his omission from several match-day squads in the club's opening three matches.

While Bimenyimana was the source of goals through the first half of the 2022/23 campaign, the lanky striker then fell down the pecking order with the appointment of Molefi Ntseki failing to change his fortunes.
For periods stretching over months, the termination talks for the remaining year on his contract have brought no solution while a move to Wydad Casablanca failed to also materialise. However, on Wednesday the club confirmed a breakthrough.
"Kaizer Chiefs have come to an agreement with striker, Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana to part ways after one season," a statement said.
"He featured 21 times for Chiefs (17 starts + 4 subs) and found the back of the net 8 times.
"He will be free to join a team of his choice and we wish him well in his future."
