StarSat secure rights to broadcast Bafana Bafana match-up vs Zambia in Afcon warm-up

The African Cup of Nations warm up game will be produced and broadcast live to StarSat viewers (On Digital Media's (ODM) pay-TV platform) on their own sports channel, StarTimes Sport 2 (channel 241).  Football fans can enjoy expert match coverage by former SABC commentator Koos Radebe, along with Kaya FM sports presenter and journalist Mosibodi Whitehead.

Well- known Zambian sports journalist and TV presenter Ponga Liwewe, will cover pitchside interviews and analysis along with Mosibodi.

Commenting on this exciting development, Gary Rathbone, StarTimes Head of Sport said, “The live broadcast of the match on Sunday is as a result of a valued collaboration between ourselves and Siyaya, the newly licensed media group that recently acquired the exclusive Bafana Bafana broadcast rights for the next five years.

"StarTimes will also be producing their own live broadcast of the game that will be exclusive to StarSat viewers watching on StarTimes Sport 2.

“Football is the most watched sport on the Africa continent and we are delighted to bring the match live to our South African and African viewers.  This however is just the start, and we will be making further announcements regarding the acquisition of exclusive football rights shortly,” an excited Rathbone concluded.

The broadcast of the “beautiful game” is evidence of StarTime’s vision of enabling every household access to affordable, high quality digital TV.
