Ex-PSL star on target, bolsters title-winning hopes

Former PSL player Prince Dube was on target once again as he helped the title-challenging Young Africans SC record another victory.

The side took a massive step towards defending their Tanzanian Premier League crown with a crucial 2-1 victory over Singida Black Stars at the KMC Complex on Monday.

Former SuperSport United forward Prince Dube continued his fine form, netting Yanga's second goal of the match to secure all three points and extend their lead at the top of the table.

Clement Mzize opened the scoring in the 13th minute, with Dube doubled the advantage just before the break.

The Zimbabwean, who has also amassed four goal contributions in nine CAF Champions League games, made the most of Maxi Nzangeli's well-delivered corner to put away his ninth league goal of the season.

The win sees Yanga SC stretch their lead at the top to 52 points from 20 matches, five clear of fierce rivals Simba SC who have two games in hand.

Despite the victory, Yanga head coach Miloud Hamdi admitted he was not entirely pleased with his side's performance but acknowledged the importance of securing maximum points.

"The players did all what they could to win the game, the second half they all looked very tired because we played in every three days, they spent too much energy before many games, and I don't have anything to speak on the players, they did all they could, they gave everything and I am very happy we took three points," the coach told Pan-Africa Football.

"The three points are very important, sometimes we can play very good game and lose but today we didn't play good enough because I am not happy with how we played but we managed to take the three points, very important points.
