Esperance the latest to be hit with FIFA ban

Esperance have reportedly been hit with a new ban by FIFA, which prevents them from signing new players.

This is not the first time Esperance have found themselves in trouble with FIFA, as they were recently informed of a 45-day deadline to settle the full amount owed to Sekhukhune United for the July 2024 transfer of Elias Mokwana.

In a similar fashion, the Tunisian side have received another penalty from the world football governing body in relation to a different player.

According to Tunisian radio station Mosaique, FIFA has banned Esperance from making any transfers as a result of their case with former player Mohammad Abu Zrayq, who is commonly referred to as Shararah.

It is said that Esperance had previously paid the penalty imposed on them, amounting to 2 million dinars (R53 million). However, FIFA issued another sanction against the club due to delays in transferring this amount.

The management of Esperance are reportedly working to expediently resolve the matter, as they are keen to make new signings during the current transfer window.

Elsewhere, Esperance are preparing for their final CAF Champions League group stage game on Saturday, 18 January, against Sagrada Esperanca.

Mokwana's side secured qualification for the Champions League quarter-finals last week after the South African scored the winner in a 1-0 victory over Djoliba.
