An African giant competing in the CAF Champions League has suspended one of their stars after he made a song criticising the club's management.

With the second-leg fixtures of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals taking place this weekend, TP Mazembe have confirmed that a certain star of theirs will not feature at all in their upcoming clash against Petro de Luanda on Saturday.

The DR Congo giants have suspended goalkeeper Baggio Saidi for several disciplinary reasons, including insubordination towards the management of the club.

A statement on the team's official website read: "The management of TP Mazembe has taken the decision to lay off goalkeeper Baggio SIADI.

"This player was characterised by incorrect attitudes on and off the field. Absences and lateness to training, insubordination towards his hierarchy.

"The club would like to show its support to all people who may have felt offended by comments published on the player's social networks and contrary to all the values of TPM."

According to Digital Congo, the decision comes after Saidi posted a video on social media, after the first leg against Petro on 30 March, of a song with lyrics targeting the club's executives, among other people.

It is said the shot-stopper specifically took aim at Mazembe's goalkeeping coach, Robert Kidiaba, manager Frederic Kitengie, and president Moise Katumbi.

In the track, the player also sings about not getting game time at the club, and how he is going through a difficult period in his career.

The 26-year-old has played two games in the CAFCL this term, keeping two clean sheets in the process.

He was also part of the DR Congo team that finished fourth at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, although he made no appearances in the Ivory Coast.
