Former referee Victor Hlungwani has suggested a solution for referee Jelly Chavani after he made another big error in the Soweto Derby following Yusuf Maart's tackle on Monnapule Saleng.
A five-goal thriller in the Soweto Derby between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs over the weekend overshadowed a big oversight by referee Chavani following a leg-crushing tackle by Maart on Saleng.
With just 13 minutes on the clock, the Amakhosi captain lunged on Saleng's leg with his studs up, with replays showing the Pirates talisman's leg twisting on the ground. However, Maart only got away with a yellow card.

Referees in the PSL have always been under fire for making wrong decisions or shying away from making big calls, especially in big games, and Hlungwane has claimed that Chavani has a personal problem of being unable to interpret the law when it comes to serious foul play and has to be properly taught by the referees' committee.
"The thing with Jelly Chavani, he must learn. Rmember he did Pirates and (versus) Chiefs in Durban (last season) where (Thembinkosi) Lorch stamped on Billiat. He was supposed to get a red-card in that game, Jelly did not give," Hlungwani said on Metro FM Sport.
"On Saturday, we saw again Maart kicking someone (Saleng) in a serious manner. So, the referees' committee now have to sit down with Jelly and teach him how to interpret serious foul play.
"Because apparently he has a problem interpreting serious foul play... so that he can give red cards in the next matches," he added.

After surviving a horrendous tackle by Maart, Saleng responded with a brace that did not only give the Buccaneers the win but seemingly revived his fortunes.
The 25-year-old proved that he is the man for the big occasions, as he had not started a game since the restart against Mamelodi Sundowns. Even before then, his previous start, in a season he has spent the majority of time on the bench, was against the Brazilians in September last year.
