Mamelodi Sundowns forward Thembinkosi Lorch already has a better season than at Orlando Pirates in just two months under Rulani Mokwena, who has revealed how he's getting the best out of 'Nyoso'.

Lorch was signed by Sundowns from the Buccaneers at the end of January with no goal under his name for the 2023/24 campaign that started in August last year.

However, in just two months under his former coach at the Soweto giants, 'Nyoso' has already scored three goals at Masandawana after he added to his first goal in the CAF Champions League with a brace in a 2-0 win over Maritzburg United in the Nedbank Cup Last 16 that took the Tshwane giants to the quarter-finals.

Mokwena, speaking to reporters after the win over the Team of Choice, says they have been giving the Bafana Bafana striker special attention at the club, with the complement of a group of analysts and teammates.

"You know we have to be patient, sometimes society is so impatient. You have to be patient with Lorch, he's still not at his best and that's just my opinion. I think he can do more. But I'm happy, gradually I see improvements," Mokwena told journalists in a post-match press conference at Lucas Moripe Stadium.

"There's a lot of things we're doing, I'm also supported by the analysts. But I'm also having meetings with him and the rest of the group is also supporting him, and that's very important.

"He's got to feel that in the bad moments the group has him, because in the good moments the group celebrates with him. We have to be there for each other, that's what a family does," he said.

The 37-year-old coach went on and revealed what he has been fixing with Lorch, even going into the details of his body language.

"I was happy with his body language today and that's one of the things I've been speaking to him about, the body language. He (used to) show everybody that, 'Ah, it's tough, it's tough'. The universe has no time for pity parties, nobody cares," Mokwena went on.

"So, he's just got to knuckle (down) and know that he's got the support of his family and that's what we're privileged to have here. Lorch, am I happy? No. But I'm quite content and he knows I want more," he added.
