Thembinkosi Lorch of Mamelodi Sundowns was named the Man of the Match in a Nedbank Cup clash against Maritzburg United.

Thembinkosi Lorch has earned a lot of praise after he netted a brace to steer Mamelodi Sundowns to a spot in the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup. Here’s a look!

The story

Downs claimed a 2-0 win over Maritzburg United over the weekend, with Lorch taking his tally in the competition to two goals and one assist in two games.

With his move to Chloorkop from Orlando Pirates having been a controversial one, KickOff readers on Facebook have now shared their views on the 30-year-old’s start to life at Masandawana following his heroics this weekend.

“Three goals and two assists since joining Sundowns, the Nyoso we want,” says Velaphi Maestro Sithole.

“If you are given an opportunity, use it,” says Tumisang Mamabolo.

“Allow me to say Nyoso got everything that is needed in football; timing, skill, and finishing are top class,” says Noluthando Kaboyellow Sandawana Nqoko.

“Congrats to Judas and Pep lite,” says Ntambo Ntambo.

“Well done Mamelodi Sundowns and Lorch,” says Vusumzi Sam.

“This is the Nyoso I want, the one who scores and creates chances,” says Elimthende Fisoh Nzwakele.

“Quarter finals of the Nedbank Cup and CAF Champions League, this team makes people jealous,” says Bhele Langa Nkumanda.

“Lorch speaks better English since joining Masandawana,” says Born Nyasa Jamahilia.

“I thought his career was dying,” says Senzo Sibeko.

“Pain goes straight to ‘he will warm the bench fc’,” says Tebza Modisane.

“Lorch is improving,” says Mzukhona Ndabambi.

“He is using the opportunity given by his coach that's why he scored,” says Joe Nathi.

Bafana Bafana also recently confirmed that they will be without overseas based duo Sphephelo Sithole and Siyabonga Ngezana for their upcoming FIFA World Series fixtures against Algeria and Andorra.

The pair have since been replaced by Orlando Pirates midfielder Thabang Monare and SuperSport United centre-back Siyanda Xulu. KO readers had the following to say:

“This is the time that the coach should be introducing youngsters, not these old crocks. We're going to play friendlies for crying out loud,” says Bongani Mgubela.

“Next time we’ll blame him for not calling them up. He should just drop them for good,” says Moses Moreroa.

“Coach Broos must not rely on players abroad,” says Thembelani Robert Kula.

“PSL players lack professionalism, and I honestly see why Stellies are showing them the gate. Why would Xulu and Monare accept call-ups knowing well they aren't match fit since they are playing at club level. It is difficult to say ‘thank you coach’. Please consider other players since they are fighting match fitness at their clubs. Look at Ben White, who turned down a call-up for the England squad but PSL players will jump up and down,” says Zet Zet.

“Xulu is around and Msimango,” says Peter Mothusi Mphokothi.

“Those replacements are benchwarmers at their clubs,” says Sthulile Mntukabani Msuthu.

“Thabang Nonare is not even playing in the Bucs squad,” says ML Wa Ha Mashiloane.

“They are giving the middle finger to the coach,” says Khay Gee.
