Chippa United co-coach Thabo September is adamant the Eastern Cape side will not allow beleaguered Kaizer Chiefs to redeem themselves at their expense.

Amakhosi are experiencing bad form and now sit in eight spot on the DStv Premiership log table.

The Soweto giants will be looking to turn the corner by using the Chilli Boys as their stepping stone to get themselves in a higher position with end of season looming on the horizon.

Chippa, meanwhile, will go into Saturday's fixture with their tails up though following their midweek 2-0 win over relegation candidates Cape Town Spurs.

Misfiring Chiefs strikers will not have an easy day at the office against a Chippa backline that is led by Stanley Nwabali, who was one of the best-performing goalkeepers at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations as Nigeria claimed the silver medal.

"We are not expecting much, we just expect us to perform, we are focusing more on ourselves and football," September tells KickOff.

"We are not bothered by the current Chiefs form, as we are not part of that. We will just analyze them and see what we can use in terms of weaknesses and probably try to strengthen our team in terms of their strong points.

"After the Wednesday win, we hope our players will be playing freely and enjoy the moment," added the former centre-back

September says they have to tread carefully against a side likened to a wounded tiger, although fired a warning shot that the Chilli Boys know where to hurt Cavin Johnson's men.

"I won't say it gives us the upper hand though. This is Kaizer Chiefs, so you don't wanna be naive, you want to respect the game. The last couple of games have been tough for them, but you don't want the team to rise through you.

"We know where Chiefs' weaknesses are. We are employed to win, but there is never a right time to face any team. We are not going to work on (according to) their form. If we work on their form, that's going to be our downfall.

"We can’t undermine a team like Chiefs, we need to make sure we perform very well."

Kick-off at East London's Buffalo City Stadium is at 15:00.
