Polokwane City 0-1 Casric Stars

Polokwane City once again surrendered the summit of the Motsepe Foundation Championship following a 1-0 defeat against Casric Stars in a top-three encounter.

Having been knocked out by Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup on Sunday, the visitors were eager to make their domestic form count as City debuted new boy Mpho Makola albeit from the bench.

The winner from Abbey Seseane on the half-hour mark of the first half was all it took to separate the two and elevate Stars to second-spot as well as level on points with Rise and Shine.

Venda Football Academy 2-1 JDR Stars

JDR Stars missed a big chance to make in-roads towards the top-three bracket on the table with a 2-1 loss to Venda Football Academy, who just exited the Nedbank Cup over the weekend.

Venda, who took the mighty Orlando Pirates all the way to extra-time before succumbing, are down the bottom-three and stare relegation to the third-tier in the face.

Joel Masutha’s men made the fast start with the opener from Rudzani Thobo, but his effort was cancelled by veteran Prince Nxumalo only for Wanga Khorombi to net the winner late on.

Uthongathi FC 0-2 All Stars FC

All Stars leapfrogged JDR Stars in fifth-place in the Championship table with a late 2-0 win over Uthongathi FC at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

It’s the first win for Stars following two consecutive draws, whereas the Cane Cutters two-match winning run comes to an end and their opportunity to close-in to the top-half contingent.

Pretoria Callies 0-0 Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC and their run without victory overall extended to 12 matches in the form of a goalless draw against Pretoria Callies.

Callies, who were down the bottom much of the campaign, continue to revive their term as this stalemate helped them stabilise ninth-place with Tshakhuma in the bottom-two.

Cape Town City 3-2 Baroka FC

Cape Town Spurs surged to the top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings and continued their push for automatic promotion to the top flight in a 3-2 win over Baroka FC on Tuesday.

Therlo Moosa steered the host ahead in the opening 20 minutes, but Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele hit back before the break through Shepherd Mangoale.

Spurs regained the lead just after halftime when Moosa pounced to complete his brace before on-loan forward Boitumelo Radiopane made it three with five minutes to go.

Bakgaga got a consolation in the final minute of the match after Thuso Mogale found the net, but no comeback happened and the host ran out victors.

Magesi FC 0-1 Black Leopards

Black Leopards recorded their first win under coach Owen Da Gama and boosted their fight to climb off the bottom of the table after getting past Magesi FC 1-0 in Limpopo.

It is only Lidoda Duvha’s third win of the season and had Matimu Tshabalala find the all-important winner and saw Magesi slump closer towards the bottom-half bracket.

Platinum City Rovers 0-2 NB La Masia

NB La Masia climbed four places from 11th to tenth on the table with a 2-0 win over Platinum City Rovers at the Olen Park Stadium in Potchefstroom.

The win scrap the Championship debutants five-match winless run and secured their first away win of the season as goals in the second half from Joshua Sauls and Mogamat May separated matters.

Rovers remain in the bottom-half following the loss and are just eight points shy from the dreaded bottom-two position.

University of Pretoria 1-2 Hungry Lions FC

University of Pretoria’s run without a win stretched to five matches after going down 2-1 to Hungry Lions FC at Tuks Stadium.

Di Tau thus cemented fourth spot due to the win following a two-match run without a win, as goals from Katlego Cwinyane and Jackson Dondolo got them over the line.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns and Chippa United winger Thokozani Sekotlong was on target for AmaTuks, who remain eighth on the table.
