Cape Town Spurs CEO Alexi Efstathiou has pleaded for fair officiating in their pursuit of automatic promotion in the race for the Motsepe Foundation Championship title.

The Urban Warriors are currently second in the standings with 44 points from 22 matches, two points behind leaders Polokwane City.

"All I'm saying is statistically, we got five penalties against us in the last four games," Efstathiou tells KickOff.

"Do you think that's normal? Two in one game, two in another game, and one in another game.

"The Referees at SAFA know [about Spurs conceding penalties] because they review the matches.

"The problem is, after that match, the points are gone. That is the biggest problem.

"Maybe they must start thinking of replaying games if they suspect something because this is the only way to stop what is happening.

"Suspending the match official doesn't give a team a chance to get their points back.

"We are trying to play football on the field, not off the field, look at the log and try to join all the dots, you will see what is happening, I don't have to explain anything."

The Head of Referees at SAFA, Abdul Ebrahim says Efstathiou should produce evidence of his claims.

"I can't comment on that really, the review committee hasn't let me know anything. Look if this is what people are saying, then they need to produce evidence.

"As we do in all our other games, the last eight remaining games, we treat them as very important," Ebrahim says.

"Our appointments committee are highly skilled in what they do. I'm sure they would choose the best men for the job.

"The best referees, and I'm sure that has always been the case."
