Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Lazarous Kambole has won his settlement case against Young Africans, which has led to FIFA issuing a second transfer ban on Yanga in a space of three weeks.

Yanga were banned by FIFA from registering players internationally and also banned locally by Tanzanian Football Federation (TFF) for irregularities in player registration in mid-April, shortly after they were knocked out of the CAF Champions League in the quarter-finals by Mamelodi Sundowns.

In a further blow to the Tanzanian giants, they have now been banned for the second time by FIFA for failure to pay Kambole salaries and signing-on fee after he joined them from Chiefs in June 2022.

Kambole left Yanga three months after linking up with the club and rejoined Zambian club ZESCO United on a loan agreement.

FIFA sent a statement to the TFF ordering a transfer ban pending settlement of the owed monies.

"NBC Premier League club Young Africans SC has been banned from registering players until they pay their former player Lazarus Kambole," the statement from the Federation read.

“The decision has been made by the International Football Federation (FIFA) after Kambole won his cases against the club.

“The Zambian player filed a case with FIFA demanding the payment of his signing on and salary arrears. The club was supposed to have paid him within 45 days since the decision was made, but it did not implement it.”

Yanga have been ordered to pay Kambole within 45 days, failing which the ban will remain effective, according to a statement by TFF.

TFF Information Officer Clifford Ndimbo confirmed that Kambole lodged a complaint against FIFA and investigations found the Tanzanian giants guilty.

"So, Yanga have been imposed with a ban on recruiting players domestically and internationally until they settle their debt with Kambole. In light of this decision, TFF has also imposed a similar ban on Yanga violating the rights and regulations," Ndimbo was quoted as saying by Tanzanian publication, The Citizen.
