JDR Stars 2-0 Cape Town Spurs

Cape Town Spurs surrendered top spot of the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with a disappointing 2-0 loss at JDR Stars on Saturday.

Veteran striker Prince Nxumalo made the breakthrough following a goalless first half before Ishmael Wadi doubled their lead and handed Spurs back-to-back defeats.

The defeat have Spurs in third-place on the table and JDR keenly positioned in fifth spot out on the Championship standings.

Casric Stars 1-0 NB La Masia

Casric Stars moved back to the top of the table ahead of incumbents Cape Town Spurs following a 1-0 win over NB La Masia at the Solomon Mahlangu Stadium.

Stars now boast a 16-match unbeaten streak as the winner over La Masia came in the first spell through attacking midfielder Lehlohonolo Mojela.

For La Masia, it’s back-to-back defeats that leave them down in the bottom-half bracket only nine points from the dreaded and automatic drop down the third-tier.

Hungry Lions FC 1-0 Uthongathi FC

Hungry Lions FC revived their promotion play-off aspirations through a narrow 1-0 victory over Uthongathi FC out at the Windhoek Draught Park Stadium.

As the respective sides struggled to get a breakthrough from the onset, Di Tau rose to the fore and got the winner courtesy of Muzomuhle Khanyi within minutes to full-time.

Uthongathi, who have struggled to bring a consistent run of form together, are still in the top-half bracket though despite the narrow loss to the Kimberley-based side.

Polokwane City 0-0 University of Pretoria

Polokwane City’s ambitions to secure top spot and outright promotion to the top-flight continued to fade away courtesy of a goalless draw with the University of Pretoria.

It is now three matches without a win for Rise and Shine, who despite this are second on the table with AmaTuks denied successive victories following their win in their last match at Platinum City Rovers.

Pretoria Callies 1-0 Venda Football Academy

Venda Football Academy’s two-match winning run were brought to an end with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the resurgent Pretoria Callies at the TUT Stadium.

The winner came during the course of the first half through Oswin Appollis, as the Romans last defeat in the league dates back to January 13th against JDR Stars.

Baroka FC 1-0 Black Leopards

Black Leopards two-match unbeaten run in the Motsepe Foundation Championship was brought to an end following a 1-0 defeat to Baroka FC on Sunday.

Lidoda Duvha have been at the foot of the table for much of the campaign though a win and draw from their last two matches looked to revive their campaign.

However, the latest set-back at the hands of Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele indicates otherwise and the latter instead looked to consolidate their first term back in the second-tier.

Magesi FC 1-0 Platinum City Rovers

Magesi FC secured back-to-back wins and maintained their mid-table standing courtesy of a 1-0 victory over Platinum City Rovers at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

With no goals in the first half, the host got the winner around the latter stages through Tshepo Makgoga and pushed Rovers further towards the bottom-two positions.

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC 1-1 All Stars

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC continued to battle against relegation in the second-tier following a 1-1 draw against All Stars in Mangaung.

Vhadau vhadamani are stuck in the bottom-two and stare relegation from the Championship in the face, while Stars sit in mid-table.
