Morris, Lilepo secured by Chiefs, what's next?

After Kaizer Chiefs signed two strikers to bolster their attack, former defender Tsepo Masilela believes there is one more area the Soweto giants need to target for reinforcement.

Creating chances aplenty, yet failing to convert, has been a familiar lament at Chiefs this season.

However, the club have made efforts to address the issue after signing Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United, while also believed to have completed the acquisition of Congolese forward Makabi Glody Lilepo from French third-tier side Valenciennes.

With the January transfer window still open, the Khosi Nation are wondering if the club could be more competitive with the two additions or the squad still needs upgrading.

According to Masilela, the Naturena-based club should also target a competent midfielder, who can dominate matches and make the team tick.

"They need someone who can make the team play, whom is gonna boss the midfield, who's gonna make things happen in midfield," Masilela said on SoccerBeat YouTube Channel.

"Because with this Chiefs team, one, two passes they lose the ball cheaply. Under pressure, they can't get out of pressure situations and rotate the ball from left to right, keep the ball going, push the opponents further back into the box.

"They tend to lose possession very cheaply," he further noted.

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been forced by the lack of a proper deep-lying playmaker to play Sibongiseni Mthethwa, initially not in his plans, as a defensive six.

Especially after a 4-0 drubbing by Mamelodi Sundowns in the Carling Knockout.

Samkelo Zwane has been an ideal playmaker for the Tunisian, but his lack of experience and inability to defend in deeper areas has left the youngster exposed.

Amakhosi also have Edson Castillo currently injured, while Yusuf Maart has been heavily criticized for lacklustre displays by the club supporters.
