Swallows to be without key duo for Pirates clash?

Moroka Swallows are set to be without two key players ahead of their crucial Soweto derby clash against Orlando Pirates.

The Dube Birds are putting in the final preparations for what will be a key fixture in their bid for a top-four position when they meet the Buccaneers at Orlando Stadium on Tuesday evening.

However, Komphela's men may find themselves in somewhat of a disadvantage without striker Tshegofatso Mabasa, who has scored six goals this season and Bongani Sam, whose experience is has been vital at the back.

Mabasa misses out due to an accumulation of yellow cards. The striker, who is on loan from Pirates, has been crucial for Komphela's first season at the helm, playing every single match for Swallows this season and prompting the former Mamelodi Sundowns coach to liken him to Manchester City's Erling Haaland.

"The (Mabasa) guy is unbelievable; the striker's quality. He has been praised for that, he has got instincts, and above all, he smells where the ball is going to drop and those can only be found in special players designated for that special position," Komphela told media in October.

"You don't go to school and learn about that, where the goal is going to drop. Tell me, how does Haaland learn where the ball is going to drop?"

However, even without Mabasa's suspension, he would be unlikely to feature against his parent club.

Similarly, Bongani Sam, who is on loan at Swallows for Pirates, is not expected to feature during the encounter.

The 26-year-old has also played every match for Komphela this season, helping The Dube Birds keep the number of goals conceded to just seven – the second lowest amount behind Mamelodi Sundowns, who have only conceded three.

Swallows' match against Pirates is set to kick-off at 19:30.
