Nhlapo: Rayners a better replacement for Caleb

Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon Nhlapo feels the club should have replaced Caleb Bimenyimana with Stellenbosch dangerman Iqraam Rayners.

In the 21 matches the Burundian international featured last season, he scored nine goals.

The Glamour Boys announced the signing of Colombian striker Efmamjjasond Gonzales Palacios on Thursday.

"Kaizer Chiefs need a top, top striker," Nhlapo tells KickOff.

"Iqraam Rayners was the right one for me, that boy can score.

"That guy knows where the goals are. Imagine his combination with Ashley Du Preez there up front.

"I like the runs Rayners makes on the field; he makes some good runs that boy.

"He is also lethal in the box; his style is almost similar to Peter Shalulile's.

"I believe Rayners can score many goals for us.

"In the case of Bimenyimana, as a former player, I will not talk badly about another player but, I understand some players are good for the gym.

"The pressure from the demanding Chiefs fans is not present during training sessions.

"Maybe he scored a lot of goals during training sessions, only to fail to repeat that in matches.

"As a striker, you shouldn't be scared of making mistakes."

Amakhosi next face TS Galaxy in Mbombela Stadium on Sunday.
