Ntseki dismisses Ranga Chivaviro concerns

Molefi Ntseki has dismissed concerns over striker Ranga Chivaviro following Kaizer Chiefs' defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday.

A late goal from substitute Neo Maema was the decider tie between the two giants after Chiefs Ashely du Preez had levelled matters in response to Lucas Ribeiro's opener.

Highly rated striker, who scored 17 goals last season for Marumo Gallants, ended a second appearance for Chiefs still without a goal. However Ntseki is adamant that the 30-year-old will find his footing at Naturena.

"I think it's also about recovery, we never had Ranga with us in pre-season, he just came in and trained on his own but with the team in camp," Ntseki said post-match.

"I think it's been more about his recovery [for him] because he played 72 minutes against Chippa, we are fully aware that today he wasn't going to be as quick, as light, as mobile as expected.

"But the plan for us was to keep the centre-backs more worried about him, staying between the two centre-backs and I think he did what was needed to be done.

"Unfortunately for him, he didn't get a goal but he's a quality striker, we'll work on him and as soon as his confidence is good, he will start to deliver for the club."

Next for Chiefs is an MTN8 quarter-final against Cape Town City at DHL Stadium on Saturday.

Kick off is at 15:00.
