Unhappy Barcelona star 'asks to leave', EPL giants lurking

An unhappy FC Barcelona star has now reportedly asked to leave this month, with one of the Premier League's biggest clubs keen to make a move for the player.

Barca's financial struggles have been well-publicised, and a handful of their players are still not registered for the latest league season due to LALIGA's financial fair play rules, including Marcos Alonso, Inigo Martinez, Sergio Dest, Clement Lenglet, and Inaki Pena.

Given their current situation, the Blaugrana are required to sell some of their stars in order to bring in new signings and register more of their players.

Manager Xavi Hernandez is understood to be looking for a new right-back and an inverted attacking midfielder, with Manchester City and Portugal duo Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva said to be the top targets for those positions.

It is thus believed sacrifices may need to be made, with Ansu Fati and Ferran Torres reportedly being earmarked as two possible exits.

According to Spanish outlet AS, the former has now made the choice easier for the club as he has asked to leave the Camp Nou.

The report claims that Xavi, who has publicly stated that Fati is "part of the club, in the present and in the future", has informed the winger that he cannot guarantee him regular minutes this season, and although the 20-year-old has previously insisted he wants to stay at Barca, he has now told his representatives to look for a new team before the window closes.

It is believed Premier League giants Arsenal are now watching the situation with a keen eye, having been contemplating making a potential move for several weeks now.

The Gunners are not the only team credited with an interest in Fati, however, with their rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United also now linked with the Spain international.
