Benjani Mwaruwari sacked in first coaching job

The latest information coming from Zimbabwe reveals that Benjani Mwaruwari has been sacked from his maiden coaching job just under four months after assuming the role.

Mwaruwari took over at ambitious Zimbabwe top-flight side Ngezi Platinum at the end of March and was tasked with improving the club's fortunes.

However, after just 13 games in charge, the former Manchester City star won just three matches.

Following the latest defeat over the weekend, the club is now reported to have shown him the door according to reports.

Upon joining Mwaruwari had agreed to a three-year deal whose legalities will now be worked out for his departure from the club.

Several local publications reported on the Mwaruwari's sacking along with assistant Bongani Mafu.

No clarity has been given on Chiefs legend Tinashe Nengomasha, who is employed as a team manager at the same club.

Mwaruwari was the 2000/01 PSL Player of the Season and Players' Player of the Season while at Jomo Cosmos before leaving for Europe where he touched featured for Manchester City and also played for Portsmouth, Blackburn Rovers, and Sunderland.

Towards the end of his career, he had stints with Chippa United and Bidvest Wits.
