Themba Zwane cheering for Mpumalanga Black Aces

The two teams square off at Loftus Stadium tonight, but the midfielder is unable to play because of the loan agreement between the two clubs.

It is the same situation for other Sundowns players on loan at Aces like Method Mwanjale and Abel Mabaso, and while Zwane is disappointed to miss out, he is completely understanding of the situation.

“I am disappointed because I really wanted to play tonight,” the 24-year-old tells snl24.com/kickoff, “but there is nothing I can do because it’s an agreement between the two teams.

“However, I will be there at the stadium to cheer on my team, Mpumalanga Black Aces. They are not a one-man team so I’m confident they will do well without me against Sundowns.”

Meanwhile, Aces media liaison Gordon Masondo tells snl24.com/kickoff that critics have got it wrong when they criticise Sundowns over the policy.

“People must refrain from blaming Sundowns on this matter because when clubs take Sundowns players on loan, they know this and they agree to it,” Masondo says.

“As Aces we do not have a problem because it is something that we agreed on from the beginning. Clubs who take players from Sundowns do not have a problem either.”

And Masondo the players’ absence will not affect the team. “This thing can happen to anyone and I believe that it won’t affect us. We have a pool of quality players and we trust all of them – they are all capable of winning matches. We have beaten Kaizer Chiefs, we have beaten Orlando Pirates, and now Sundowns is next.”
