Sam Meyiwa, the father of the late Senzo Meyiwa, has passed on.
Meyiwa had been struggling to come to terms with the death of his son in 2014, after he was shot dead.
To this day, the killers of the former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper have not been arrested and this, according to those close to the family, was affecting his father.
Sam has not fully recovered since the death of his son who was a provider for the family and is said to have suffered a second stroke and passed on this morning. He was not well since suffering a major stroke in 2018.
He has passed on without knowing the killers of his son. Sam had made public pleas for the killers of his son to be found.
Senzo Meyiwa was gunned down while in Vosloorus back in 2014 at the house of singer Kelly Khumalo. Police minister Bheki Cele vowed that they would make a breakthrough in the case of finding who killed the former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper, but no arrests have been made.
