Orlando Pirates chairman Irvin Khoza has explained why the club has invested heavily in once again bringing in a solid number of new players.
For the second consecutive season, Pirates have an influx of signings as they prepare for the new season ahead.

As was the case last season, upwards of eight new faces have joined Milutin Sredojevic's pre-season squad, though this time several players have also been shipped out.
It is a statement of intent from the Buccaneers, and Khoza is eager to afford his technical staff the luxury of rotation as they take on the challenge of competing on five different fronts.
"I think it's very important because we're going back to CAF. We're trying to give coaches confidence to rotate players, because sometimes they are scared to do so," explained 'The Iron Duke'.
"To a point whereby they use the same squad until breaking point. By the time you must come back, you can't and end up being relegated.
"You must see, every team that has been to the Champions' League, they come back and suffer because we want to win at all costs, which is right for the coaches, technical support and management.
"But it's not good for the health of the players, so it's very important that the squad you have gives the coach options to be able to change and rotate."

In the same breath, Khoza has also expressed his concern for players over-exerting themselves and suffering long-term injuries as a result, thus now aiming to avoid such occurrences.
"We must make sure they [players] don't get exposed to unnecessary tests of endurance and then snap their muscles, and they are out of play for a long, long time," he added.
