Nazeer Allie targets Maritzburg United win over Highlands Park

New Maritzburg United captain Nazeer Allie is aiming for three points when they host Highlands Park at Harry Gwala Stadium on Friday night.

The Team of Choice are coming from an unlucky 1-0 defeat to Golden Arrows last Sunday and are playing their first home fixture against an unpredictable Highlands side, who are also coming from an unlucky loss to Kaizer Chiefs.

Newly appointed club captain Allie understands the importance of starting well at home, which can boost their morale as they plan to avoid last season's failures that led to them needing the playoffs to survive.

"Obviously it's very important to start well at home, we have to get three points. It's very vital to win against Highlands Park," said Allie.

The former Ajax Cape Town right-back knows the threat the Lions of the North can cause on any day, but says as a team they have a plan to overcome them.

"Highlands Park is very tough team to face, an aggressive and hard-running team. It going to be hard, we just need to prepare well. We are aware they are strong physically, like to run and long ball. We are prepared to face them."
