Jele walked out as captain for the goalless draw against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at Orlando Stadium as Pirates secured third place and a return to the CAF Confederation Cup next season.
That start against marked a landmark in the history of the club as the 34-year-old will now be etched into the record books for a colossal 376 starts.
The Mpumalanga-born defender could have long reached this milestone but injuries through the years have delayed this special moment.
This season he has also had to endure yet another wait as injury and other issues meant he missed 10 games before playing the last two against Baroka and Tshakhuma, which he needed to reach ths milestone.
In 2020/21, he managed 20 starts and three sub appearances in a campaign that the club lifted the MTN8 and reached the quarterfinals of both the Nedbank Cup and Confederation Cup.
That 'Magents' will remain a celebrated figure at the Buccaneers remains without doubt – since making his PSL debut on September 20, 2006 against Maritzburg United he has now gone on to grow into an influential figure in the dressing room.
There is also no questioning his legendary status at the club, having won all domestic trophies with his list tallying two league titles, two Nedbank Cups, the Telkom Knockout and three MTN8 winners' medals.
He also has runners-up medals for both the Champions League and Confederation Cup.
For a man whose primary duty is to defend, he will also take pride in a return of 16 goals through his 15 seasons at the Mayfair-based outfit.
However, Jele's contract situation means there remains uncertainty as to whether he will continue playing at the club next season with rumours of another one-year extension potentially on the cards.
