Maritzburg United winger Ziyaad Eksteen looking to win Nedbank Cup for Fadlu Davids

Maritzburg will contest their maiden cup final with Free State Stars at Cape Town Stadium on May 19.

According to Eksteen, Davids has displayed great tactical nous in his first full season as a head coach.

“I think we owe it to coach Fadlu and the club to help achieve something no one would have ever imagined,” Eksteen tells snl24.com/kickoff.

“We should also strive to give our coach the fairy-tale ending to the season in the Nedbank Cup.

“As a club we have already met our objectives for the season and this is down to coach Fadlu’s great tactics and strategies.

“I mean, the coach has been a loyal servant for the club as a player and now in a managerial capacity.

“He’s been through his lows and has seen it all here at the club. Importantly he grew with the club. So, it would be nice if we give it one final push against Stars and win the trophy for our coach.”

The former Ajax Cape Town man is naturally hopeful he will get to play against Stars, but insists lifting the trophy is his prime concern.

“The game is far greater than just one player so it doesn't matter if I get selected or not. But yes, it would be nice to play in a final,” adds the Cape-born midfielder.
