Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha gives his thoughts on compatriot Khama Billiat

Billiat left defending Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns to join Chiefs at the start of the current season and he’s done pretty well. The Zimbabwean international has scored seven goals and has nine assists in all competitions, statistics which make him the best performing Chiefs player this season.

Billiat’s performances have at times been overshadowed by Amakhosi’s inconsistent results. On other occasions, such as yesterday when Chiefs beat ABC Motsepe League side The Magic FC 3-0 at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium, Billiat is a class above the rest.

When he came on at the start of the second half he made a difference, getting involved in all three goals Amakhosi scored. He won the penalty which Daniel Cardoso converted to make it 1-0 before the end of the first half in extra-time, then played a smart ball to Dumisani Zuma, who played the ball in the box for Philani Zulu to finish. He then converted Zuma’s cross to seal what ended up being a convincing victory in extra time, after Amakhosi struggled in regulation time to find the back of the net.

“I think he is doing good, it’s his first season. Obviously there are some games where I feel he could add value, where he is tending to relax. But I think he is doing well and I wish he does much more better, because when he is doing well then things are happening more,” Nengomasha said about his compatriot.

Chiefs will take on Polokwane City in the Absa Premiership at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday (15h30).
