With FC Barcelona reportedly stepping up their pursuit of Lionel Messi, the salary he could earn with the Spanish giants has now seemingly been revealed.
The South American appears to be heading towards an exit from Paris Saint-Germain, with his current contract due to expire in June and negotiations on a renewal between the player and the French club said to have stalled.

Recent reports have suggested that Barca are leading the race for Messi's signature, with talk of potential moves to Inter Miami and Al Hilal dying down.
Despite the Catalan giants' interest in re-signing Messi, however, there are still a number of stumbling blocks courtesy of the club's well-documented financial issues.
LaLiga president Javier Tebas recently poured some cold water on the likelihood of the Argentine's return to the Camp Nou next season, but the Blaugrana seemingly remain confident a deal for their all-time top goalscorer can be done.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona will offer Messi a deal worth £22 million (R493 million) a year, in what would be a significant pay cut for the player, especially from his previous spell at the Blaugrana.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup winner previously earned £122 million (R2.7 billion) gross a year in Spain, but willingly reduced his salary to £65 million (R1.4 billion) annually when the 2019/20 season was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic, before leaving as a free agent for Paris Saint Germain in 2021.

It is further claimed that Barca's offer would be a two-year contract, with the Albiceleste captain having the option to terminate the deal after 12 months if desired.
