Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has stated his intention to leave the club.

Paris Saint-Germain Kylian Mbappe has opened up on his future in Paris, confessing his intention to leave the French giants.

The striker has been the reported subject of Real Madrid's interest over the past few years, but a move has not yet materialised and with under six months left on his contract, the situation between the player and his potential new club is still wrapped in uncertainty.

The attacker is said to have rejected multiple offers of a contract extension by PSG and is believed to have even foregone a whopping £69 million (R1.6 billion) loyalty bonus, opting to leave the PSG when his current deal expires.

In a recent interview, Mbappe admitted that he will eventually have to leave the Ligue 1 giants.

"Many great players who have marked the history of football have left Europe this summer and we are entering a new era," the player told GQ via Estadio Deportivo.

"It is part of the cycle of this sport and at some point I will also have to leave.

"I am not worried about these changes. I simply think to continue with my career and follow my own path," he added.

While his future remains uncertain for now, Mbappe has been able to focus on his job of scoring goals for PSG. He has netted 19 goals in 17 league games, helping his side to the top of the Ligue 1 table.

The Parisian giants lead second-place OGC Nice by eight points as they look to retain their current status as champions. The France international has also helped his side escape the UEFA Champions League group stage, scoring three times in six appearances.
