With the uncertainty over Mohamed Salah's future, Liverpool are now said to have made an offer for his replacement.
Reports linking the Egyptian with a move to Saudi Arabia have only increased in recent weeks.
This comes after the forward was the subject of a potential world-record offer last September but Liverpool refused to sell at the time.
The Saudis are reportedly still holding the door open to the move, but Salah is yet to indicate which step he will take next season, with his current contract due to expire in June 2025.
With the Reds hierarchy aware of the possibility of Salah leaving, however, they are now said to have begun their succession plan for the Pharaohs talisman's potential exit.
In fact, journalist Fabio Santini has told Italian outlet TV Play that the English giants have already presented an offer for Juventus attacker Federico Chiesa.
"What does Juventus do? They might sell Chiesa and not [striker Dusan] Vlahovic, as is being rumoured," he claimed.
"There are offers on Chiesa from the Premier League bigwigs, particularly Liverpool.
"By selling Chiesa, they bring home around €40-€45 million (R820-R923 million); with that amount, Juventus can go and knock on [Genoa forward Marco] Retegui's door, who should not be seen here as a duplicate of Vlahovic, but if anything, as his sidekick.
"Here too, Juventus will have to do, as they say in Milan, the servant's accounts."
With manager Jurgen Klopp set to leave Anfield at the end of the season, Salah leaving too is no longer outside the realm of possibility.
Chiesa, meanwhile, has registered a respectable seven goals and two assists in 24 Serie A appearances so far this season.
