Striker Karl Toko Ekambi has announced his retirement from the Cameroon national team.

Having made his international debut in June 2016, the French-born striker hangs up his boots having earned 60 caps for the Indomitable Lions, registering 14 goals and three assists in the process.

He confirmed his decision via Instagram, writing (translated from French): "Disappointed not to go any further but proud of my team for putting it all together. A fourth chapter of the African Cup of Nations closes, the end of a history. Forever an Indomitable Lion."

He will now fully concentrate on his club football, having left Abha Club this week, little over two weeks following the arrival of Pitso Mosimane, who is said to have opposed his exit.

His stint with Abha lasted just half-a-season since his initial transfer from Olympique Lyon. He has since signed for Al-Ettifaq, where he will be playing under Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard.
