Pitso Mosimane’s trend of only picking up points at home has set him up with the challenge of doing the same against Al Nassr in the next game that his club will host.

Abha Club – where Mosimane is now employed – picked up three points at home on Thursday night with a 1-0 victory over Al Wehda.

The value of that win is that while it didn’t move them from second-bottom, it took Abha to 21 points and within just three points of getting into the safety zone.

With three teams going down, Al Tai – who are just above Abha, occupy the last relegation spot with 21 points but carrying the advantage of a better goal difference.

Al Riyadh (23 points), Al Raed (23 points), and Al Akhdoud (24 points) are all now of interest to Mosimane with every match that they play and every movement that they make on the standings.

After ticking the box on Thursday, the former Bafana Bafana mentor will take keen interest in what Al Tai and Al Riyadh do in their fixtures on Friday night. Al Tai play at home against Steven Gerard’s Al Ettifaq, while Al Riyadh – who occupy the last safety spot and will be the next opponents for Mosimane – travel to Al Fayha.

Another team that is of interest to Abha is Al Raed, who are three points ahead and travel to Al Taawoun on Saturday.

Abha will be back in action after the FIFA break on March 30 with a trip to Al Riyadh, before they then host Cristiano Ronaldo and Sadio Mane’s Al Nassr on April 2.

With all the seven points that Mosimane has collected having come from home games, the match against Al Nassr will be another target for points.

This is the first ever relegation job that the three-time CAF Champions League winner has had to handle since his first head coaching job at SuperSport United back in 2001.
