The solutions that Kaizer Chiefs sought with two off-season signings up front have failed to bring the desired results as they remain in the ‘failure’ category two thirds into the league season.

Chiefs’ forward line has failed to deliver the goals with the two new arrivals, Ranga Chivaviro and Efmamjjasond Gonzalez, the worst culprits.

Chivaviro and Gonzalez were brought in to deliver goals after the release of Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, but they have done nothing that rings improvement from what the Burundian did in front of goals.

Based on what he did at Marumo Gallants, Chivaviro was expected to do better than score two goals so far this season.

The 31-year-old has had about 565 minutes worth of league game-time and delivered just twice.

He has fired blanks in all his cup competition appearances amounting to 140 minutes.

This is not what Chivaviro hoped for at this time of the season and will need to up his scoring rate in what remains of the season.

Gonzalez is in a worse situation, zero goals and zero assists after 12 appearances.

What Gonzalez has shown on the field has left a lot to be desired about why the club went all the way to Bolivia to recruit him from Real Santa Cruz.

The Colombian has looked off the pace and has justifiably been labelled a waste of a signing.

The big forward has since been overtaken by Wandile Duba.

Ashely Du Preez repaired his scoring damage with a brace in the Soweto Derby, while Christian Saile Basomboli is making up for lack of goals with effort.
