Mamelodi Sundowns will again have another huge decision to make over the future of their Nigerian striker Etiosa Ighodaro at the end of the season following fresh European interest.

Ighodaro is currently on loan at SuperSport United, where he has scored eight goals.

The 22-year-old also spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Chippa United, where he scored 11 goals in all competitions.

This website has now been informed that Club Brugge are targeting Ighodaro as replacement for Brazilian striker Thiago.

Thiago – who has scored 26 goals this season – has been sold to English club Brentford, which leaves Club Brugge with a need to find a replacement.

This is where Ighodaro then comes into the picture.

Club Brugge have recently had David Okereke and Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis – who also come from the same Nigerian academy as Ighodaro.

Okereke now plays for Torino on loan from Cremonese, while Dennis is with Watford on loan from Nottingham Forest.

Daniel Amokachi was also a success at Club Brugge during his playing days, while they currently have Raphael Onyedika, which is why they are keen to take the Nigerian route again.

Sundowns have previously resisted the temptation to cash in on Ighodaro despite having never used him in the first team since they brought him into their books.

The last offers came in from Serbian clubs Partizan Belgrade and Novi Pazar.

Last year, Partizan put in an offer in the region of R8,5 million, but The Brazilians chose not to sell and instead sent Ighodaro out on loan to Chippa United, where he excelled.

Ighodaro has played for M Tigers (ABC Motsepe League) and Tuks (Motsepe Foundation Championship), before getting into double figures in only his first season in the DStv Premiership playing for a struggling Chippa.
