Mamelodi Sundowns defender Brian Onyango believes the backing from the supporters has kept them going for much of the current season.
The Brazilians eased past Tshwane rivals SuperSport United 2-0 to return to the top of the DStv Premiership through a record-breaking ninth consecutive league win.
It was the Brazilians first encounter back in the DStv Premiership after claiming the newly-formed African Football League most recently.

“We’re on top of the log, the priority was being on top of the log and we did it. As much as we are away today, we felt we are at home because it’s the first game we’re playing as African champions,” Onyango said via the Sundowns media department.
“Because of the supporters we can’t let them down and they really help us to keep going when things are down, they support us and everything was ok,” he added.
After a winning start in the CAF Champions League Group A against FC Nouadhibou last Sunday, the Brazilians turn attention to TP Mazembe on Saturday in the second match in Lubumbashi.
The constant changes in the line-up haven’t been problem as the players have each others back irrespective of who is on the field.
“Coach (Rhulani Mokwena) is good tactically, but he always wants us to focus on being good human beings. We always support each other regardless of who is playing, we support each other. We love each other that’s why it was easy.
“We have a match against TP Mazembe and we have prepared well. As you know, every group has got champions. Our coach has given us instructions on how we should approach the game. I’m certain we will execute according to his instructions,” Onyango said.
Injuries have limited the Kenyan’s playing time over the last two seasons and he has recorded just six appearances in all competitions this campaign with no goals to boot.
