Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has opened up on the prospect of becoming the first side in the history of South African football to finish the league season unbeaten.

Sundowns extended their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership to 20 matches since the start of the season after edging Cape Town Spurs 1-0 on Tuesday.

With only 10 matches remaining, the Brazilians have a chance to become the first side in the history of SA top-flight football, at least in the PSL era, to finish the league season unbeaten.

Mokwena, in his post-match press conference, said he does not want to talk about the chance to become South Africa's version of the famed 'Invincibles'.

"I don't want to talk about that unbeaten record because in the world, one team has done it, which is Arsenal in that invincible season," Mokwena told journalists at Athlone Stadium.

"That tells you how difficult it is, that invincibility, to go the entire season (unbeaten). That's tough, why even think about it when it's only being done once in a blue moon," he quizzed.

Masandawana also stretched their lead at the top of the table to 13 points, with at least two games in hand, and the 37-year-old coach stressed that he would have actually loved to have wrapped up the league already.

"How soon? As in yesterday. I would have loved for it not to be a contest. You can see we play with so much anxiety, so much pressure on us. You can see it. We're not our normal selves," the former Orlando Pirates coach stressed.

"And some of it is my fault because I put so much pressure on them, I want more, I put them under a lot of stress and the results are also putting them under a lot of stress.

"They also see the log, they see the situation, they see they have to compete for the Champions League, the Nedbank Cup."
