Former Sundowns star lifts league title in Togo

Former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Dove Wome has won the Togolese Championnat National in Togo with Asko de Kara.

Asko defeated Dynamic Togolais 2-1 on Wednesday to be crowed league champions for a fourth consecutive season.

The Kara-based outfit secured the title with a six-point gap between them and rival runners-up Kara while Dynamic finished third.

For Wome, the 31-year-old clinches the title in his first season with Asko, having joined the club at the start of the campaign in July last year from Gomido on a free transfer.

Wome spent eight years plying his trade in South Africa between 2011 and 2018. Roped in by Free state Stars, he went to feature for DStv premiership Champions Mamelodi Sundowns and had loan spells at SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates.

The attacking midfielder made just under 150 appearances in the South African top-flight, scoring 28 times and providing 19 assists.

Up next for Asko is an away clash against AS OTR to be played on Sunday. Kick off is at 17:00 (South African time).
