Kaizer Chiefs legend Zebulon Nhlapo pleads with the club's current crop of players to start playing for the badge.

Amakhosi host Moroka Swallows in a DStv Premiership clash that is scheduled for 17:45 on Saturday.

The Glamour Boys are yet to win a match in 2023 and Nhlapo expect another tough challenge against the Dube Birds.

Nhlapo pleads with the fans not to be harsh on players who are trying their best for the club.

"We are not saying the players are not winning on purpose, we know how difficult it is on the field of play," Nhlapo tells KickOff.

"You can be good during the gym and score a lot of goals, but come the weekend you miss chance after chance. That's football.

"We shouldn't be too harsh on Ashley Du Preez, the boy is still young, he will score goals for us. Fans just need to encourage him to keep on doing what he does.

"He is one of the few players that are fighting on the pitch currently, he is not missing chances on purpose, he also wants goals.

"Being harsh on him will only make him afraid to play or to make mistakes.

"Kaizer Chiefs are playing good football, the only thing missing is they are not fighting for the club's badge.

"If you play for Chiefs, you must know that every game is a cup final, even a friendly match, everyone wants to beat you.

"Our players tend to relax, you can't relax if you are playing for Kaizer Chiefs. If you want a win then you must fight for it.

"Like right now Swallows are not performing that well but against Chiefs they are going to be a different team altogether.

"The only thing missing in this Chiefs team is the goals. We can't keep on blaming coaches, how many coaches have we changed this season?

"No coach goes to a match to lose because he also wants to protect his job. I'm saying all this with a heavy heart. It hurts.

"As the club's legends, we plead with the players to fight for the badge, imagine the pain the chairman Kaizer Motaung must be going through right now.

"The players need to understand that being a Chiefs player is nie pap n vleis."
