Mulomowandau Mathoho has failed to move from his Kaizer Chiefs departure unlike his former teammates.

A year on from his release by Kaizer Chiefs, Mulomowandau Mathoho has found his chances of returning to the professional football scene fading away.

Mathoho was offloaded by Chiefs in May 2023 after having served for 11 years after signing from Bloemfontein Celtic.

It was through his time at Chiefs that he grew to be a top-earning regular and won all but three of his 34 Bafana Bafana caps while at the club.

While in the past, being offloaded at the Soweto giants meant plenty options in your next move, Mathoho’s case proves that it is no longer a guarantee that clubs will tussle for your services.

Mathoho’s situation has been made difficult by that no club can even pay half of the six figures that he was earning at Chiefs.

Worse is that he last played 90 minutes in March 2022 which was in Amakhosi's 2-1 win over Orlando Pirates while Stuart Baxter was still in charge.

Mathoho was then substituted at half-time in his next match after his schoolboy blunder handed Golden Arrows three points at FNB Stadium.

From there, the lights went off, with his only other appearance lasting just a minute in September 2022.

He trained with SuperSport United earlier in the season, but the emergence of Ime Okon meant Matsatsantsa have wide options in central defence with Thulani Hlatshwayo, Siyanda Xulu, Abdul Hamza and Kegan Johannes on their books, while Keegan Allan has since been added.

Mathoho turned 34 in March.
