Defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns have found their way to another fixture change as they seek to negotiate the completion of their domestic campaign.

Complications over Sundowns’ fixtures arose from having played in the new African Football League and now reaching the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League and last eight of the Nedbank Cup.

Their last league game away at Cape Town Spurs was moved to April 9 instead of April 6, while the home fixture against Richards Bay FC was brought to April 2 from April 3.

Their next league encounter, against Moroka Swallows, was initially slotted in for April 16 but has now been pushed a day earlier to Monday, April 15 at Dobsonville Stadium (19:30).

The change of dates for this match has been necessitated by the need to allow the Brazilians an extra day for their long-distance trip to Tunis to face Esperance in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semi-final.

The proposed date for that match is Friday, April 19.

Travel on commercial flights from Johannesburg to Tunis is via Dubai or several European stops with a minimum of 16 hours travel time.

After playing Swallows, Sundowns’ next league match against Sekhukhune United is also under question as the initial date (April 27) will fall just a day or two after the CAF Champions League second leg.

The only other league matches not under threat of being moved are the Brazilians’ trip to Kaizer Chiefs on April 30 and the back-to-back games against Royal AM on May 7 and May 11.

Should Sundowns go through to the Champions League final, CAF has set aside May 18 and May 25 for the decider, which are dates that the PSL had planned to play the last two rounds of the league fixtures on with all 16 teams playing on the same day and same kick-off times.

This leaves Sundowns’ games against Sekhukhune United, Stellenbosch FC, Cape Town City, Golden Arrows and TS Galaxy (home and away) on 'pending' status for dates.

June 1 is set aside for the Nedbank Cup, which might also involve Sundowns.

The next FIFA calendar week is from June 3-11.

Sundowns play University of Pretoria in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals on Friday.
