Head coach Cavin Johnson has provided his assessment of rising star Wandile Duba, who got his first 30 minutes of the season during Kaizer Chiefs’ goalless draw against Moroka Swallows.

Chiefs' winless run extended to four matches as they were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against troubled Swallows on Saturday at FNB Stadium.

Amakhosi had troubles of their own as defender Edmilson Dove was sent off early in the second half after a reckless tackle on Gabadinho Mhango who had only the keeper to beat.

Shortly after that, Johnson introduced some changes in the form of Wandile Duba and Dillan Solomons. The former was making only his second appearance this season, after playing just a single minute against Royal AM.

The coach explained Duba's performance after the draw against the Birds over the weekend.

"If we had maybe the extra man, then maybe you would have seen Wandile (Duba) in a better performance,” Johnson said, speaking to journalists in the post-match press conference.

"But yes, I thought Wandile has done well.

"He came on and defended from the front. But at the same time, he also made some good moves," Johnson said.

"I think he made one or two. It was really telling that if everybody else read that move, then maybe someone else would have scored because he didn’t go on to score goals, he just went on to [add] worry (challenge) the game.

"When you look at the opportunity to [Christian] Saile gets, and the opportunity Mshini (Nkosingiphile Ngcobo) gets, you see what Wandile is doing then you realise what he did.

"So, I thought Mshini could’ve gone a little bit closer and then he could’ve turned and then caught on the second ball.

"And the one where he moves away and Saile gets, I think if Saile holds the ball, anything else can happen."
