Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma has only played three games in the last 13 months but has already elevated himself to a rare achievement at the club.

Bvuma is yet to concede in the three 1-0 wins against Moroka Swallows, Polokwane City, and Richards Bay that he has played in since his return to the posts in November.

Three wins in a row coupled with three clean sheets by the same goalkeeper hasn’t happened at Chiefs in seven years.

The last time Chiefs had three wins in a row buttered by three clean sheets by the same goalkeeper was in September 2016.

Itumeleng Khune was between the posts for the 1-0 win at Highlands Park, 2-0 home victory against Maritzburg United, and another 2-0 win on the road at Free State Stars.

Chiefs’ legendary keeper also went on to avoid conceding in another 2-0 win against Ajax Cape Town.

Khune went on to keep another three clean sheets but none of those games were won in regulation time.

The Telkom Knockout win over Maritzburg United came courtesy of penalties while the league games against Orlando Pirates and Baroka ended in goalless draws.

Since the end of Khune’s four match clean sheets winning run, Chiefs have played 283 games across all competitions before the same keeper (Bvuma) came to keep three clean sheets in three consecutive wins.

Chiefs play Sekhukhune United in their next game on December 31 before the six weeks AFCON break.

For Bvuma, while another clean sheet will be welcome, it will also earn him credits after his surprise inclusion in the AFCON preliminary round squad.

While Bvuma has kept it clean in all his three appearances this season, Khune has conceded in all the five games that he has played with Brandon Petersen on four clean sheets in 11 matches.
