Cape Town City coach Eric Tinkler has hit hard at some of his senior players for poor performance after his side lost to Stellenbosch in the Cape Town Derby on Tuesday.
City suffered their 6th defeat in the DStv premiership this season when beaten 1-0 by Stellenbosch in the league match played in Cape Town on Tuesday. The Citizen’s defeat at home saw them surrender their second position in the league to Stellies.
The Eric Tinkler-led side is now sitting in fourth position in the DStv premiership league log.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder says his players have to blame themselves for their 1-0 defeat against Stellenbosch in Cape Town on Tuesday.
"We only got ourselves to blame," said Tinkler during the press conference after the league match against Stellenbosch.
"The fluidity in our game like now isn’t there.
"You see glimpses, we saw the first glimpse of first 15-20 minutes in the first half and we started to see a certain glimpse of it towards the end of the game."
"There was a large period of the game that the fluidity and connection isn’t there.
"We have to sit and analyze it properly and try to fix it. Senior players I call senior players because I am not referring to the older ones, I am calling the senior players who are not contributing enough”.
“I think they need to see themselves as senior players and no longer development players, they are senior players, that’s something we need to deal with it,” he added.
Cape Town City is set to travel to Kwazulu Natal for their next DStv premiership match against Royal AM on Sunday.
