Chippa United registered a fourth straight victory in all competitions after defeating SuperSport United 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Matsatsantsa were without goalkeeper Ricardo Goss through suspension as Washington Arubi returned, while Keegan Allan, Siphesihle Ndlovu, Aphiwe Baliti and Terrence Dzvukamanja were all recalled.

Chippa made their intentions clear on eight minutes when Baraka Majogoro arrowed narrowly past the top corner from Elmo Kambindu’s assist.

Matsatsantsa did provide a response inside the midway stage and had Ndlovu draw Stanley Nwabali to a save from a through ball by Ghampani Lungu.

The Chilli Boys went ahead three minutes from the half-hour mark courtesy of a well-taken drive from the centre of the area by Sinoxolo Kwayiba from a delivery by Craig Martin.

Kambindu could’ve extended their lead a minute to halftime from a flick-on by Bienvenu Eva Nga, but he failed to test Washington Arubi.

Matsatsantsa looked to draw level just past the interval and came close from the head of Bradley Grobler, but Nwabali was on hand to make a save.

Nwabali made another telling stop a few minutes later when he denied Bilal Baloyi profiting from the head after meeting a ball in the area.

The goal-scorer Kwayiba remained pivotal near the latter stage and set-up Nga to get a shot in the box only for the woodwork to deny the Cameroonian.

SuperSport made a double change later on and introduced Lyle Lakay for Baliti before Etiosa Ighodaro stepped in for Dzvukamanja.

Nga did get in on the act ten minutes from time when he arrived in the area to dispatch Sirgio Kammies’ supply following a quick break.

Matsatsantsa looked for a consolation later on through Siviwe Magidigidi, but he was repelled by Nwabali as the Chilli Boys claimed victory to move into the top eight.
