Kaizer Chiefs' struggles in the DStv Premiership continued after losing 1-0 to Richards Bay FC on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs restored Sifiso Hlanti, Siyethemba Sithebe, Sibongiseni Mthethwa, Mduduzi Shabalala and Ashley Du Preez, with Njabulo Ngcobo, Edson Castillo, Yusuf Maart, Mduduzi Mdantsane and Ranga Chivaviro dropping out.
Shabalala had a golden chance to open the deadlock when he raced in-behind from a through ball to go clear on goal, but goalkeeper Salim Magoola rushed out to thwart on time.
Yet another inviting opportunity were squashed by the visitors in the midway mark as Saile’s tame shot from a tight angle wide of the area did little to trouble Magoola.
Magoola continued to frustrate the Amakhosi a little past the half-hour mark and heading to the interval as he rushed out of the box to thwart Du Preez capitalising from a ball in-behind.
Unlike the first half, the Amakhosi were pretty on the back-foot and had the Natal Rich Boys seeing most of the earlier stakes in all four lines of the field of play.
Richards Bay were rewarded for their persistence over ten minutes from the break when Simphiwe Mcineka sneaked in at the near post to head in a pin-point corner.
Magoola stood between the visitors again as he produced a dramatic one-hand palm to turn Du Preez’s snap shot from a tight angle behind for a corner-kick.
No fewer than four substitutions at the same time were introduced by the Amakhosi in Samkelo Zwane, Reeve Frosler and Chivaviro.
Chiefs remained under pressure late on and nearly conceded a second through one-on-one from substitute Justice Figareido, but Bruce Bvuma saved.
In the end, the Natal Rich Boys claimed the win to continue their fight against the drop and saw the Amakhosi to a third successive loss and out of the top eight too.
