Sekhukhune United extended their unbeaten run in the DStv Premiership to nine matches with a 1-0 win over rock bottom Cape Town Spurs on Saturday evening.

Asekho Tiwani, Lehlohonolo Mtshali, Katlego Mohamme and Jamie Webber were restored by Babina Noko -leaving Daniel Cardoso, Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya, Kamohelo Mokotjo and Thamsanqa Masiya to make way, whilst Spurs dropped Neil Boshoff to recall Zama Dlamini in goal.

Former Richards Bay FC defender Katleho Maphathe had a perfect chance to give Spurs the lead after two minutes in from a forward pass by Gadiel Michael, but it went wide.

Babina Noko replied eight minutes later and saw Bafana Bafana international Elias Mokwana go over the top after managing to get a header in from Tiwani’s cross.

Webber began to settle on the ball thus provided a delivery to the area which skipper Linda Mntambo attacked and slammed narrowly wide of Dlamini’s goal.

Mntambo received a clearer chance late in the half from another supply into the box and once again nodded beyond target.

Substitutions from both sides at the break had Mokwana withdrawn for Keletso Sifama before Michael dropped out for Rushwin Dortley.

Marauding fullback Tiwani got the opener five minutes from halftime when he combined with Webber to apply a decent finish from a smart area beyond the reach of Dlamini.

Webber was in the thick of things again moments thereafter and played in a ball for Tresor Yamba Yamba to get a head in from the area, but the Congolese figure snapped well over.

Babina Noko continued upping the ante later on as Chibuike Ohizu threatened with a header from a ball in by Siphesihle Mkhize, but he steered past target.

Spurs looked to salvage a point late on but excellent goalkeeping from Badra Ali Sangare ensured the hosts walked away with the victory.
