Head coach Eric Tinkler echoed the call for the implementation of VAR in the PSL following Patrick Maswanganyi's controversial late goal as Cape Town City lost 2-0 to Orlando Pirates on Tuesday.
After Zakhele Lepasa's opening goal, Tinkler saw his side concede a controversial second goal against the run of play late in the match at Orlando Stadium - a strike which the City coach believes should not have stood and 'killed' the game.
"Obviously we would like to bring the technology into our game because it does make a difference you know," the Tinkler said post-match.

"Like I said to you, that goal shouldn't be allowed, The ascendancy at that time of the game was with us and we ended up losing the ascendancy because we went 2-0 down, so the mindset [of the players] changes you know.
"At that stage of the game, the players start believing that we can get back into the game because they see it, they see that we have control over the match.

"I thought our contribution was much much better in the second half and I thought for a good 20 to 25 minutes we had the ascendancy, we had control.
"We had the opportunity to get ourselves possibly back into the game to make it 1-1 and then the game changes with the second-goal.
"It was going to come, why? Because we were committing numbers, we looking to be brave and we lost the ball and we conceded a second goal that I've been told is not a goal.
"But the fact of the matter is it's a goal and obviously that kills the game there for us. That ends up being the result.

While the infrastructure required to fully implement VAR in the PSL remains a firm hurdle, that has not deterred coaches and pundits alike from calling for the introduction of the virtual assistant, particularly after a series of incidents this season have put a spotlight on the poor state of officiating.
Meanwhile, in June the South African Football Association revealed plans to fast-track the implementation of VAR.
