SAFA confirm venue for Bafana friendlies

The South African Football Federation (SAFA) has confirmed that Orlando Stadium will host Bafana Bafana's upcoming friendlies against Namibia and DR Congo.

Having qualified for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) to be played in Cote D'Ivoire in January next year, Bafana are set to get their preparations underway with first two of four friendlies to be played in September.

Head coach Hugo Broos has named an initial 36- man preliminary squad that will be trimmed down to a final 23 squad  on Wednesday for the two encounters.

Bafana will first host Namibia on Saturday, 9 September, then take on DR Congo three days later (Tuesday, 12 September). They will then take on eSwatini as well as Afcon hosts Cote D'Ivoire on 13 October and 17 October respectively.

For now, The 1996 Afcon champions will draw confidence from their recent form having not lost a match since a 1-0 defeat to Morocco in June last year.

Bafana Bafana's 36-man squad:

Goalkeepers: Ronwen Williams (Mamelodi Sundowns), Veli Mothwa (AmaZulu), Ricardo Goss (SuperSport United), Sipho Chaine(Orlando Pirates)
