University of Pretoria 0-1 Magesi FC

Magesi FC leaned closer to automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership after seeing off the University of Pretoria 1-0 in a top-of-the-table clash in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Saturday.

The victory see Clinton Larsen’s men open a five-point gap at the top ahead of AmaTuks in second-place who suffer their second defeat in a row after going down to Maritzburg United last weekend.

Larsen’s boys, who dropped two points at Hungry Lions last weekend, rallied on and grabbed the all-important effort in the dying minutes through veteran Rhulani Manzini.

Maritzburg United 0-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Maritzburg United’s three-match unbeaten streak in the Motsepe Foundation Championship came to an end following a shock 1-0 loss to bottom-placed Marumo Gallants FC on Friday.

The Team of Choice entered the clash high on confidence after a 2-0 win over promotion-chasing University of Pretoria before Gallants kept Milford Stallions at bay to continue fighting for survival.

In this encounter though, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa proved effective and got the winner in the remaining minutes through Kgosietsile Ndlovu to see them move off the bottom.

JDR Stars 0-0 Venda Football Academy

JDR Stars missed a big chance to cement third-place and maintain a late promotion push after a disappointing goalless draw with Venda Football Academy.

Before the match, the Hammerboys were in high spirits and scrapped an inconsistent run of results to go on a three-match winning streak.

However, Venda weren’t prepared to go down without a fight and overcame a run of back-to-back losses to claim a vital point against the Hammerboys.

Baroka FC 0-3 Casric Stars

Baroka's chances to a top-three finish slipped further away after suffering a disappointing 3-0 defeat at the hands of Casric Stars.

The host aren’t just two points adrift third-place but a recent inconsistent run of results seen them drop down to sixth-place and 11 points from the summit.

Casric jumped into third spot all the way from eight, as Reuben Kgabane, Decide Chauke and Leletu Skelem struck either side of the half.

Platinum City Rovers 1-3 Milford Stallions

Platinum City Rovers dropped to the bottom of the table following a 3-1 defeat to a stubborn and revived Milford Stallions.

Milford are now three matches on the bounce without defeat and climbed to 12th spot as the goals came either side of the half from the respective teams.

Upington City 1-0 Black Leopards

Upington City remained in touching distance of a late push to the top-three after claiming a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Black Leopards.

Bafana Ba Gucci now languish seventh on the table, with Lidoda Duvha a further three places below in tenth as Keletso Makgalwa grabbed the winner late in the first half.

Makgalwa's goal ensured new coach Brandon Truter got off to a winning start.

Orbit College 1-1 NB La Masia

Orbit College lost more ground with the promotion front-runners following a 1-1 draw with NB La Masia in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Sunday.

Both sides entered the clash lacking form, and it showed as the opening half ended on an equal footing which remained throughout to see the host fifth and La Masia drop into 13th spot.

Pretoria Callies 2-1 Hungry Lions

Pretoria Callies continued to revive their campaign and jumped one spot from eleventh to tenth on the table following a 2-1 victory over Hungry Lions.

The Romans were dominant from the onset and entered the interval two goals to the good, with Di Tau firmly on the back-foot.

Lions did show some resistance following the break and pulled one back through S’Bongakonke Gamede, but there was no comeback and left Callies to victory.
