Magesi FC 2-2 Hungry Lions

Magesi FC saw their seven-match winning run in the Motsepe Foundation Championship ended but remained top of the table after a 2-2 draw with Hungry Lions on Tuesday.

Dikwena Tsa Meetse hit the breakthrough ten minutes ahead of halftime through Mcedisi Vandala, but it swiftly cancelled by Michael Khanyi.

The boys of Henry Bassie took control late on and threatened victory when Tshepo Mohlala got them ahead, but Dikwena salvaged a point at the death through Rhulani Manzini.

Maritzburg United 2-0 University of Pretoria

University of Pretoria failed to capitalise on Magesi FC’s dropped points with Hungry Lions and suffered a 2-0 loss to an in-form Maritzburg United.

AmaTuks had a golden chance to go top of the table with a win, but the Team of Choice had other ideas as first half strikes from Sinamandla Zondi and Sanele Gaxa.

The Team of Choice are now unbeaten in the last three matches and languish sixth on the table, nine points adrift AmaTuks.

JDR Stars 2-1 Black Leopards

The resurgence of JDR Stars continued after recording a 2-1 win over mid-table Black Leopards in a tightly contested battle in Soshanguve.

It’s their fourth successive win which rekindled their top-three ambitions and subsequently out-right promotion quest too as Lidoda Duvha drop into tenth spot.

The Hammerboys were in the lead during the halftime interval, but Lidoda Duvha though the host ended up with all the points in the end.

NB La Masia 0-0 Baroka FC

Stuttering NB La Masia began life without coach Daine Klate holding promotion-chasing Baroka FC to a goalless draw in Dobsonville.

With Alzavian Van Rheede appointed Klate’s successor, his tenure didn’t get off to a winning start as the point leaves them in the bottom-half whilst Baroka failed to close in to the top-three.

NB haven't won since defeating Milford Stallions 3-0 in December, while Bakgaga Ba Ga Mphahlele’s last win came two weeks ago against Orbit College in Limpopo.

Milford Stallions 1-1 Marumo Gallants FC

Basement dwellers Marumo Gallants FC winless run extended to six matches after being held to a 1-1 draw against Milford Stallions in a bottom-half showdown.

Gallants, who are in their first season in the second tier having been relegated from the top flight, haven’t tasted victory since defeating the Venda Football Academy on February 14th.

Both goals came in the opening spell, with Thapelo Dhludhlu on strike for Bahlabane Ba Ntwa who by the way could’ve secured victory but were unable to bury a spot-kick late on.

Orbit College 0-3 Pretoria Callies

Orbit College’s promotion hopes continued to slip away following a disappointing 3-0 loss to Pretoria Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship on Wednesday.

Orbit, who not too long ago were on top of the table and winning at will, are now fourth on the table and trailed the Romans at the break.

Further blows were dealt by the Tshwane side after the interval with the third strike following suit and leaving the league’s new boys shattered and pointless too.

Upington City 1-1 Platinum City Rovers

Upington City winless run of matches extended to four matches after Platinum City Rovers snatched a late equaliser to claim a 1-1 draw.

Bafana Ba Gucci looked well on course to claim all the maximum points when Bokang Mokwena had given them the lead around the middle of the first half.

However, with majority of control right throughout proceedings – the visiting team managed to bounce back in the final stages and claimed a crucial point.

Venda Football Academy 0-1 Casric Stars

Casric Stars picked up a second straight win to remain in the top-half following a 1-0 victory over the Venda Football Academy in Limpopo.

Stars are now on a two-match winning run – having seen off bottom-placed Marumo Gallants over the weekend and thus sit in the top eight.

The winning effort came in the first half, and with Venda attempting a comeback thereafter it was the visiting outfit that secured all the points on offer.
