Former Premier Soccer League coach Vladislav Heric has pointed out what he believes gives Magesi FC the ede in the Motsepe Foundation Championship title race.

Heric tips Magesi to finish top of the table.

The Limpopo club is at the summit of the National First Division standings with only seven matches remaining.

They are followed closely by University of Pretoria FC, who are only one point behind them.

Orbit College and Baroka FC occupy the third and fourth positions.

Heric believes Peter Koutroulis and Clinton Larsen will be the trump card for Magesi.

"Magesi will be crowned champions, Peter Koutroulis is there, Clinton Larsen is there, they will win the league," Heric says matter-of-factly, speaking to KickOff.

"They have put together a very strong team there with some couple of former PSL players, and they are very strong. They have more experience than others. Larsen has been good in decision-making for them, which is very important for any club if they want to succeed.

"AmaTuks are super competitive, they have the best facilities and everything a coach needs to win the league. But their biggest disadvantage is that they are more development-orientated than success-oriented.

"Their focus is more on developing a player and making money out of it. Ajax Cape Town proved many times that looking at developing a player and chasing success at the same time never works, that's why they are paying a big price for it even now as Cape Town Spurs.

"Last year, Spurs got promoted because they had the spine of the players that played two, three years together," noted Heric.

The well-travelled coach also touched on two other sides that he feels have an outside chance of winning promotion to the topflight.

"Orbit College is playing the best football in the league, they have an excellent coach in Kabelo Machete. He worked with me for four years. He implements what he learned from me very nicely, he has won the ABC Motsepe League four times I think. He has proven to be a very quality coach.

"And Baroka, they are always competitive, and they always sign strong players."

Heric pities relegation-bound Marumo Gallants, who are currently stuck at the bottom of the table, and says he tried to lend a helping hand to the club's owners, but they chose to ignore him.

"We all don't know what went wrong there, I also tried to help them escape, but nobody came back to me.

"But it's okay.

"It's a pity to see a Limpopo team going down."
